VOTER REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
Registration Deadline. 30 days before the election.
ID Number. Your social security number is requested. We use your social security number for ID purposes only. It will not be avail-able to the public or used in any reports (Federal Privacy Act, PL 93-579).
Choice of Party. You must register with a party if you want to take part in that party’s primary election, caucus, or convention.
Race or Ethnic Group. Leave blank.
Signature. To register in the District of Columbia you must:
1) be a citizen of the United States; 2) be a District of Columbia resident at least 30 days preceding the next election; 3) be at least 18 years old on or preceding the next election; 4) not be in jail for a felony conviction; 5) not have been judged "mentally incompetent" by a court of law; 6) not claim the right to vote anywhere outside D.C.
