VOTER REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Registration Deadline. 30 days before the election.
Line 6: ID Number. Your social security number and Texas driver’s license number or personal ID number (issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety) is requested. The disclosure of all of these numbers is voluntary. It is solicited by authority of Sec. 13.122 of the Texas Election Code and will be used to maintain the accuracy of the registration records. The application is open to the public.
Line 7: Choice of Party. You do not have to register with a party if you want to take part in that party’s primary election, caucus, or convention.
Line 8: Race or Ethnic Group. Leave blank.
Line 9: Signature. To register in Texas you must:
1) be a citizen of the United States; 2) be a resident of the county in which the application for registration is made; 3) be at least 17 years and 10 months old (you must be 18 to vote); 4) not be finally convicted of a felony. (Felons regain the right to register when pardoned, after receiving a certificate of discharge from the appropriate correction institution, or after completing a period of probation.); 5) have not been declared mentally incompetent by final judgment of a court of law.
